PRIVACY POLICY
NO DATA COLLECTION
PolyHub does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal information or file data to our
servers. We don't have servers. We don't track you. We don't sell your data.
HOW IT WORKS
PolyHub is a peer-to-peer file sharing application that operates entirely over Tailscale's encrypted
VPN network. Here's what that means:
- Direct Transfers: Files transfer directly from your computer to your peer's
computer. No cloud storage, no intermediary servers.
- VPN-Based: All connections happen through Tailscale's private mesh network
(100.x.x.x IP range). Only devices on your Tailscale network can connect.
- End-to-End Encryption: Tailscale provides WireGuard-based encryption for all
traffic. Your files are encrypted in transit.
- Local Processing: All file operations, pairing, and gallery management happen
locally on your device.
WHAT WE DON'T KNOW
Because PolyHub operates peer-to-peer over Tailscale, we have zero visibility into:
- What files you share
- Who you share files with
- When you use the application
- Your IP address or location
- Your Tailscale network configuration
TAILSCALE'S ROLE
PolyHub requires Tailscale to function. Tailscale is a third-party VPN service that handles network
connectivity. Please review Tailscale's Privacy Policy to understand how they handle your
network data.
Key points about Tailscale:
- Tailscale coordinates connections but doesn't see your file data
- All traffic is end-to-end encrypted using WireGuard
- Tailscale may collect metadata about network connections for service operation
LOCAL DATA STORAGE
PolyHub stores the following data locally on your device:
- Profile Information: Your display name and Tailscale IP address
- Peer List: Names and IPs of users you've paired with
- Public Keys: Cryptographic keys used for secure pairing
This data never leaves your device except when shared directly with peers you explicitly connect to.
OPEN SOURCE
PolyHub is open source. You can review the entire codebase on GitHub to verify our privacy claims. No hidden telemetry, no
analytics, no tracking.
UPDATES TO THIS POLICY
If we ever change how PolyHub handles data, we'll update this policy and the version on GitHub. The
current version is always available at this URL.
